How I went from overworked and ashamed of myself to helping thousands of real estate agents find more freedom in their careers and joy in their lives.

Riding The Real Estate Boom
For All It Was Worth

I started out like most real estate agents do… by accident.

In 2003 I graduated from ASU with a finance degree and since I couldn’t get a job anywhere else (seriously!) I decided to start a career in real estate investing. My timing was perfect and I caught the front end of the huge real estate boom. I flipped homes, bought rentals, sold houses, and helped start a company that taught others to do the same. My life seemed perfect: fun, friends, and all the money we could spend on dumb stuff people in their 20’s spend money on.

And then it all fell apart.

The 2007 real estate crash crushed me. Not only did I lose everything but I had built my entire identity on the back of my real estate success. There I was a 30-year-old single man with no money, no career, no family, and a shattered ego.

I had a choice to make. Give up, or try again….. But differently

Rainy Days and A Beautiful
Girl

A great friend and mentor saw what a mess I was and recommended that I spend a year or two rebuilding my identity in who God says that I am rather than on the sandy foundation of “success”. Some friends of mine had experienced a powerful breakthrough in this area while visiting a church in Tacoma WA and recommended that I move there for a while. Both broke and broken I had nothing to lose so I headed North.

The next year was almost exclusively dedicated to praying, worshiping, reading my bible and spending time with new friends in Tacoma who loved me for who I was rather than the success I had achieved (and then lost!) During that year I also met Brynne Abraham would would become my wife several years later. To this day I am so thankful to have met Brynne when I was at my lowest point for if she could love me then she could love me through anything.

With a new foundation built on the love of God and a wonderful fiancé in tow, I moved back to AZ and got to work figuring out how I would provide for my new family.

Emails, 24/7 Work and Bad
Clients

Brynne and I married in 2011 and I began selling houses to friends and family who knew I had a real estate license. I had no real plan or systems but enough friends and connections to pay the bills. The market was heating up and so I was getting busier. In order to keep up, I fell back into old habits and began working all the time.

Brynne was gracious with me but her patience was running out.

Everything Changes.

In November of 2013 we had our precious baby Eden. I wish that I could say that I made a mature decision at that moment to stop my workaholic ways but sadly, that’s not how it happened.

While in the hospital only hours after my precious baby was born I was sitting in the hospital room answering client emails

My little girl was HOURS old.

Brynne saw the writing on the wall and a few days later let me know that something had to change. I realized that I was becoming a man I did not want to be and resolved to change.

But how?

How was I going to make enough money to achieve our families’ dreams while not working all the time?

How would I avoid repeating the failures of my past?

I began searching online for answers to my questions.

Surely someone had figured out how to successfully run a real estate business without abandoning their family in the process.

In my search I found a Brian Buffini coaching course being hosted close to my house. Brian had a system for creating an actual business and promised to teach me how to grow my real estate sales without going crazy in the process. Brian’s class was wonderful and to this day I credit it with beginning my journey into true success.

The most important thing his class did was introduce me to the world of real estate coaching and self-development.

I quickly learned that there were thousands of courses, workshops, masterminds, coaches, mentors, and podcasts to dive into. I am a voracious learner and a skilled implementor so I quickly began searching out, sifting, and experimenting with the best ideas I could find.

That introduction set me off on what has now been an almost ten-year journey finding and implementing the best possible real estate coaching and self-development tools and mindsets.

The Payoff.

Now, having spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and thousands of hours learning, testing, and perfecting the best ideas I have created the real estate business I had always dreamed of. I run my highly productive team from Coronado Island where I spend plenty of time with my precious family. I have also created a system that allows my incredible team to be well compensated for work they love which provides them the freedom to be with their families as well.

Now, my passion is to help others grow and create systems that serve their families, teams, and clients with excellence while providing them all of the freedom they were created for.

Thank you for joining me on this journey, I believe it’s one that will help us all make the world a better place.
